Fat City consists of 7 individuals who have come together to develop one of the best dance-party bands in the southwest.
Up front, we have two dynamic vocalists who also entertain, April Zamora & Michael Herndon.
April Zamora has been a top 6 finalist in the Colgate Country Showdown and has appeared on GAC, Great American Country TV. April has developed her R&B chops with Fat City and can now be heard singing R & B, Cumbias, Rancheras, and Country and much more with Fat City. April is sure to make a name in the entertainment industry and she is a welcome sight to the Fat City line-up.
Michael Herndon comes to the Fat City Family via New York City. A solo artist in his own right, Michael brings maturity and professionalism that a rare few posess. Michael has released two solo cd’s and is writing original material for Fat City’s new cd. Michael sings, Jazz, Funk, R & B and even Country. With Fat City, Michael has found a great home for his vocal stylings.
Logan Nix is Fat City's newest member and the rhythm section (aka drummer). Logan has been studying drums and percussion to the point where he was not only accepted into the UNM School of Music and Percussion, but he received a full scholarship. Logan has traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally with the Pink Flamingos Show Band and has performed with many well known musicians. Logan brings a refreshing energy to Fat City that moves not only the audience but the band as well. Come and experience Logan’s deep and infectious groove with Fat City.
Pete Cockroft rounds out the band on keyboards, vocals and trumpet. Pete is one of those rare finds that can do anything musically and his musical maturity is unsurpassed in the New Mexico. Pete also writes original material for Fat City and handles musical arrangements as well.
Roland “Stone” Smith on Bass, Thats Right “He’s baaack”. Roland has returned to Albuquerque from Las Vegas to funk up the ever so evolving Fat City lineup. Roland’s return has brought Fat City back to the form our fans have enjoyed throughout the last decade. We are so glad he has returned to his Fat City family.
Rod “Dok” Aragon is the most solid guitar player and vocalists you will ever find anywhere. Rod will always maintain that solid funky rhythm and smokin’ leads that keep Fat City fans screaming for more. Rod also handles engineering duties when Fat City is in the studio.
Robert Blea is the mainstay behind the Fat City band. Robert knows the only way to have a great band is to surround yourself with GREAT MUSICIANS and GREAT PEOPLE. Robert plays the alto, tenor and baritone saxes and even the flute in the “live shows” Fat City has put together. Robert also plays keyboard.
Fat City with April Z., Michael, Logan, Pete, Roland, Rod & Robert will continue to play music for the people who not only appreciate good music, but for everyone who enjoys good danceable party music. The 2011 edition of Fat City is one of the best if not THE BEST version of Fat City ever. Come out and listen for yourself and see if you don’t agree.
