April Zamora Bio.
Armed with a truckload of talent, most notably her mature and powerful vocal ability, plus the courage and support to pursue her dreams, 24 year-old April Zamora has found her calling. The Del Norte High School graduate, danced with the Castelles Drill Team. At the age of 15 she enjoyed singing to her friends over the telephone. Thankfully, April started performing at local fiestas and special events, which eventually lead her to perform at the national level.
April is a versatile vocalist, with the ability to sing Country, Pop, and Spanish styles. She likes to perform a variety of cover songs, including Bill Mack's 'Blue,' Shania Twain's 'Don't Be Stupid' and A.B. Quintanilla's 'Como La Flor', (all can be found on her 2002 Solo Debut CD, This Is Only The Beginning .) April also has eleven years of piano training and has written several original songs.
In 2004, April was one of only 6 artists chosen out of 50,000 to compete in the 23rd Annual Colgate Country Showdown. The competition was held in early 2005 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The competition was also broadcast nationally on the Great American Country channel (GAC). Sara Evans was the host, and at that time she herself was a hot new country artist and a former (CCS) contestant. The show included Martina McBride, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, John Michael Montgomery, and Garth Brooks all of whom were previous contestants. There is no question that April Zamora is in good company having graced the Epcot stage for this event. Although another contestant walked away with the $100,000 Grand Prize, April was excited and proud to have been a part of this prestigious competition that she didn't give a hoot' about the money.
Although drawn toward the laid back environment of the Country music industry, April also likes the energy and flair, not to mention the outrageous outfits, which accompany the pop/hip-hop scene.
April has the potential to create a fresh, new sound. Like many of today's young pop stars, she incorporates her love and talent for dance into her performances. April gets her audiences pumped up with this additional visual component.
April's family and friends are always close by, cheering her on. She feels very blessed and grateful for so much support. April has three siblings, her brother Anthony and two older sisters Christina & Jennifer. They try to attend all of her performances, no matter how large or small. April is also a proud mother, with a precious little girl and a little boy. "My kids are my world!!!”
It goes without saying that New Mexico is home to some extremely talented artists and April Zamora is one of the most talented young stars to emerge from her beloved New Mexico. Eventually she will find her own niche in the music world, but in the mean time April is excited to be a part of the Fat City family.
So it is, April Zamora loves the stage, singing and dancing. Whenever asked what other hobbies she enjoys, she always flashes a huge grin and says, “This is it for me”, "Performing is my passion."
